This England: A Green and Pleasant Land. 2005.

This online networked digital artwork is created from online web cameras and surveillance systems focused on the landscape. These pastoral landscapes and seascapes become real time moving paintings. Instead of the surveillance cameras watching urban space these cameras point out towards the landscape or the sea. The digital landscape is fused with an ever changing present.

Typically this subject matter was the focus of the 'Old Masters'. This England: A Green And Pleasant Land, becomes a morphing real time painting that is always changing. This is not a film but a generative experience, in whch the moving image becomes a networked system. The images are gathered across the internet then the computer then paints or remediates them using custom made software (the system) and re represents it all to the world via the internet. Essentially it is the machine making these paintings and this artistic experience.
